Srikanth Iyer is a dedicated Carnatic musician, percussionist, and educator with a rich lineage of musical training across vocals, percussion, and instrumental music. He is the Founder & CEO of Krishna Learning Center (KLC), committed to preserving and passing on the traditions of Carnatic music, Mridangam, and Western instrumental training.

Carnatic Music Journey

Srikanth began his Carnatic music journey at 7 under Mrs. Ajantha in Nedumangadu. After moving to Trivandrum, he trained under Sri Annapoorni, late Sri Anathalakshmi Venkatraman, late Sri Alleppey Sreekumar, and Parvatheepuram Sri Paramanabha Iyer. He is a disciple of Parvatheepuram Sri Paramanabha Iyer’s son, Parvatheepuram P.L. Harikrishnan, a highly accomplished musician and educator.

Mridangam Training

Srikanth’s percussion journey began under H. Sivan, Trivandrum and later continued under late Trivandrum Sri. R. Vaidhyanathan, both of whom have played a crucial role in shaping his understanding of rhythm and laya intricacies.

Guitar & Western Music

Alongside his Carnatic training, Srikanth trained in Guitar under Mr. Jacob from Pune, blending classical techniques with contemporary styles and providing students with a well-rounded approach to both Carnatic and Western instrumental music.

Guru Lineage & Musical Legacy

Srikanth’s guru, Parvatheepuram P.L. Harikrishnan, is a highly accomplished musician, holding an M.A. in Music with First Rank from the University of Calicut, and is a UGC NET-qualified scholar. Harikrishnan has won numerous accolades, including the National Level Mridangam Competition by All India Radio (2014), the Sree Shanmukhananda Bharathratna MS Subbulakshmi Fellowship (2017-19), and the prestigious Nadasree Puraskaram (2023). He has also composed Thillanas and Varnams and has performed at esteemed venues like The Music Academy, Chennai, Chembai Music Festival, Soorya Festival, and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

Srikanth’s grandguru, Parvatheepuram Sri Paramanabha Iyer, was a highly revered musician and a National Award-winning teacher. His profound influence on Carnatic music education has helped shape generations of musicians, including his son, P.L. Harikrishnan.
